Dawgbone Jr's Weekend Observations: Born barkin', raised on Kirby's domination of rivals, and fueled by SEC and National championships - Dawgbone Jr recaps the weekend's biggest games all season long.
College Worlds Series
What a historic year the Dawgs baseball team is having as they head to Omaha for the College World Series for the first time since 2008. Georgia is coming off one of the most chaotic super regional series in recent memory, with runs scored in bunches across both games. The Dawgs came back from a 7-0 deficit to win Game 1 in stunning fashion, 13-12. In Game 2, they nearly surrendered a commanding lead before clutching up in extra innings to punch their ticket to Omaha. Texas will be Georgia's first opponent at the CWS and is arguably the second-best team in the field. The Dawgs drew the tougher side of the bracket, loaded with SEC competition. If the pitching staff shows up, this team will be extremely difficult to beat, and we already know what the offense is capable of. Georgia absolutely dismantled their super regional opponent with a barrage of home runs, and Dan Jackson will be making regular appearances in Mississippi State fans' nightmares. This Dawgs team is special, and they will win the College World Series by beating Ole Miss in the final, taking the series 2-1.
Game 4: Spurs 106 - Knicks 107
It is hard to decide whether to call this the greatest comeback in basketball history or the worst collapse. The Spurs dominated the first half, scoring 76 points and holding the largest halftime lead by a road team in NBA Finals history. But the Knicks and the MSG crowd never gave up hope, coming out firing in the second half. Jalen Brunson was virtually unstoppable in the fourth quarter until his final shot attempt, but OG Anunoby came flying in to tip the miss in and seal the win for New York. The Spurs looked defeated in those final minutes, and De'Aaron Fox's performance down the stretch was genuinely shocking. Even with Game 5 heading back to San Antonio, there is no recovering from a loss like that, Knicks in 5. In many ways, this game was the basketball equivalent of the Gamecocks' collapse against Texas A&M last season.
